Money

What is money? One way of defining money would be a standard of currency, a way to make payment in exchange for some good or service. It is something we want more and more, a hidden and perhaps subconscious desire to attain and accumulate more of this pieces of paper engraved legal tender.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but money can get you lots of lovely things like chocolate chip ice cream (for me, differs for everyone), which is somewhat equivalent to happiness. The reason why we seek employment is so that we can earn our wages and in turn use it to get whatever it is that we want, or need. This is the conventional, legal and morally right way of obtaining money. What falls in the other side of the venn diagram involves criminal activity including but not limited to, robbery, fraud, smuggling and corrupted practices. The main reason behind what drives people to disregard the law and carry out the above mentioned actions may be to make a living.

Taiwan: Alishan and the Lovers Bridge

Alishan (阿里山) , one of the most visited national parks in Taiwan, is located in Chiayi County, at the southern part of Taiwan. One the way to Alishan, one will pass by the Lovers Bridge ( 天長地久橋). This is a suspension bridge over a stream consisting of two parts, the 天長橋 and the 地久橋.

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Part 3 : Wildlife

This is the third and final installment in the Sungie Buloh Wetland Reserve series. The focus of this post in on wildlife photographed at the reserve, namely the monitor lizard. But before that, let’s dive in on the bird like creature seen above. After some research and detective work, the bird above is revealed to be a Milky Stork (Mycteria cinerea), an endangered species native to Sumatra, Indonesia. Worldwide population figures are estimated at around 5000. As luck would have it, two of these Milky Stork appeared right at in the area of the viewing gallery where I merely happened to past by.

Sungei Buloh is split into two segments. After walking through the first segment as seen in part 1 of this series, we reach the second segment. This is the place I distinctly remember visiting many many years back, when I was a child then. The place remains exactly the same since the last time I visited, except for this colorful wall or fencing seen above. Drawings of various animals can be seen on these panels, even one alligator with a hyper enlarged head.

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve ( 双溪布洛湿地保护区) lies in the northwest region of Singapore. The reserve, with an area of 130 hectares, is part of the ASEAN Heritage Park. Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, formerly known as Sungei Buloh Nature Park, was officially opened on 6 December 1993 by then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong.
