It’s the first day of Chinese new year, and I’m up at 3am, with absolutely nothing to do. Watched a couple of movies, got bored of the dumbbell and played a few rounds of poker. And so my mind started wondering and thought of a weird idea. What if everyone of us was special and perceive sensory feedbacks in a way which is uniquely to us? Nobody would know for sure.
This afternoon, an unfortunate accident left me with a 1cm scar on my hand. The wound didn’t hurt strangely, but blood started emerging from the cut. Red blood. So what if what my brain perceives as red turns out to be green as perceived by another? All along we know that blood is red, but how do we know what exactly is the color red? We are merely shown samples of a range of colors and told that they all belong to this group of color known as red. And likewise for the other common colors.
What if there exist people whose eyes “see” outside of the visible light spectrum? They would technically be blind, but imagine if one saw in terms of radio waves. Likewise for sound. Maybe C to one person may be C# to another or even D#. The only way one can truely know if if they go through a brain body transfer which as of now does not exist, and hear the sounds or see the colors through the eyes and ears of the other person and henceforth conclude the theory.
There exist stories where people claim to hear sounds which others cannot hear. Maybe they took drugs and are experiencing hallucinations where an angel is telling them they can fly like superman. Or maybe their prayers are being answered and a higher being is granting them with the winning lottery numbers for the next day. Say people being labelled mentally unsound are actually hearing sounds which the average human cannot hear. Highly improbable, I know.
Halfway through writing this post, I went to the piano to play some tunes. Somewhere around the third bar of blank space, it started raining. Maybe somebody doesn’t like my music. And I was using the damper pedal of course. Oh wow, the rain has stopped now.
