May is the only month, other than February, to have a less than 5 day work week. For me at least. Now that the workload is down to more than manageable levels, I find myself more breathing room. For the first time in months, I am finally able to spare a little time on my hobbies, which feels great really. I had my monitor color calibrated, which would certainly help in the post processing of photographs. Seeing my previous photographs edited on a non-calibrated screen now seems awful.

May 11. Went to work, got my usual morning mocha from the pantry. Something’s different today though. A group of undergraduates visited, sort of an outreach programme. I decided to sit in for the event, settling at the back and clearing my emails. It’s not everyday we have visitors, and when we do, there’s bound to be refreshments. The highlight of the refreshments, would be the eclairs. Be it chocolate, or the newer strawberry flavor, the eclairs will always be the first plate to be cleaned out. Guess most people just love the sweet snacks. The amount of food was disproportional to the number of guests we had, so by the time all the guests had their fill of the refreshments, we still had quite a bit of food left. And that food became my lunch. Such a waste to see the leftovers thrown away…

May 12. Took a day off work for my medical checkup. Don’t really see the need behind a medical checkup for university enrollment, besides the rather obvious color blindness tests. Furthermore, I had more than my fair share of medical checkups within the past 6 months, which were definitely more comprehensive than today’s tests. If only the university could use those records instead. That would have saved me $35 and 5 hours of my time.
The journey there took almost 2 hours. I met my friend on the train and picked up a third person on the way as well. After alighting from the train, we took a bus into campus. I know theres a shuttle service, but I had no idea where to board. From there on, it was a long walk to the medical center. I reached earlier than my appointment time, only to realise the clinic didn’t honor the pre-arranged timing. So although I was early, due to the large crowd, I waited till nearly 4 to see the doctor.
