One might wonder why the September post came after the October post. Shouldn’t it come before the October post since September comes before October in the calendar? Well, the short answer is procrastination. The long answer is I’m too lazy to write anything and also the fact that September was a rather packed month.
I had planned to finish the August post in September and at the same time write up on the affairs of September. Unfortunately, that will not happen as my memories of the remnants of August and September have faded away for the most part. Which is why photos are so important. Oh well…..
So let’s skip the writing and go straight to the photos.
CHIJMES
CHIJMES is a popular landmark for photographers to have photoshoots. Here we have a party of three who I assume with a high level of certainty are tourists. Too bad I didn’t have a model with me. Else that would be me squatting there. With a DSLR of course, not a phone camera yikes.
This is my second visit to CHIJMES and my first visiting this part. This is one time I wished I had a ultra wide angle. Maybe a 10mm or 12mm, to cover on the left the end of the table and the right the whole building. I could have stitched together a panorama like I have in the past, but these days I strive for simplicity. And besides, being the legendary procrastinator I am, I would probably never get down to stitching them even if I took some pano worthy photos.
CHINATOWN
No prize for guessing where this place is. If you cannot figure out where this is within ten seconds, you must be from a land where few descendants of the dragon reside. Welcome to Chinatown, Singapore. Walk out of the MRT station so aptly named “CHINATOWN“, walk down a couple of streets and this iconic chinese looking building pops up.
I came to this place via the guidance of the great Google Maps, which nowadays never fails to give directions to tons of lost travelers. Can’t say the same for the past. Nor those walking on their own two feet. The location and direction detection is just horrible for that.
This guy on the bottom right of the frame appears to be holding the XiaoYi Camera. For those who never heard of this camera, it’s like a cheap alternative to the GoPro line of action cameras.
I would get a GoPro, if I had money to spare. Attach it to a drone and take those cliche night-time aerial photos. Edit
When I left Chinatown, it was already in the evening and as the Mid Autumn Festival was just days away then, the famed Supermoon was quite visible to the naked eye that day. If you look closely, there is a hint of red in the tiny moon in this photo. That was not the day of the Blood Moon, so I have no idea why the moon was not its usual yellowish color.
CITY HALL
Attempted Vibrancy. Over these years of taking photographs, I realised people have a bias towards bright coloured photographs. The cheerful feeling, perhaps. So in this photo, I went for a clean, accurate representation of what a person would see, except I cleared up the haze a little. Speaking of haze, this years haze situation(in my opinion) is worse compared to the past few years. In duration, if not in intensity. I assume nobody would like to see a blurry patch of grey covering the landscape nor fill their nostrils with the smell of burnt wood, so here we go.
Whilst exploring the vincity around Victoria Concert Hall, I saw this group of folks filming a music video featuring a local celebrity commonly seen acting in CH8 dramas. The lyrics of the particular song has something to do with vegetables. Is he looking at me?
